In 2026, our company, through notos department stores, was a proud sponsor of the Perseus Racing student team! This research team from the University of Western Macedonia is primarily dedicated to the design and construction of Formula Student race cars (https://perseusracing.uowm.gr/).
It is composed of students who share the same vision: to combine knowledge, innovation, and teamwork with the aim of participating in and excelling at international Formula Student competitions. Established in 2014, the team has since built three gasoline-powered and two electric single-seater race cars, representing the University of Western Macedonia at Formula Student competitions in Croatia, Greece, Italy, Hungary, the United Kingdom, and the Czech Republic.
2025 was a historic year for Perseus Racing, as the team secured the first four awards in its history. Specifically, it took 3rd place in the Business Plan category at the competition in Croatia, while at the competition in Greece, it achieved 1st place in Cost & Manufacturing, as well as 3rd place in both Business Plan and Skidpad—confirming the team's momentum and progress!
We extend our warmest congratulations to the students and wish them great success in the future!
* The Formula Student competition began in the United States in 1981 and rapidly evolved into the premier university-level engineering competition. Over time, it also established itself in Europe as the ultimate platform for students to showcase their engineering skills and innovations through the design and construction of Formula-style race cars.
Each participating team is required to demonstrate its capabilities across two main categories of events: static and dynamic.
STATIC EVENTS
The static events evaluate the design, strategy, and analysis behind the construction of the race car. Specifically, they include:
Business Plan Presentation Event: Creating a business plan based on the race car, with the aim of presenting it as a commercial product.
Cost and Manufacturing Event: Analysis of the race car's manufacturing costs and production processes.
Design Event: Presentation of the race car's technical design, highlighting innovations in both electrical and mechanical systems.
DYNAMIC EVENTS
The dynamic events focus on the race car's on-track performance, testing its speed, endurance, and efficiency. They include:
• Skidpad: Testing the car's steady-state lateral grip.
• Autocross: Measuring agility and speed on a course with corners.
• Acceleration: Testing acceleration over a 75-meter straight.
• Endurance: An endurance test in which the race car covers a distance of 22 kilometers.
• Efficiency: Measurement of the race car's energy efficiency during the endurance test. Consequently, the Formula Student competition is not merely a display of speed; it is a combination of technology, engineering, strategy, and business acumen.
